Joselu is preparing to return to La Liga after deciding not to activate the clause to extend his contract for another year with Qatari club Al-Gharafa.
Joselu joined Al-Gharafa on a free transfer in 2014 after the best period of his career with Real Madrid, and the Royal Club has been missing a striker of his caliber ever since.
According to Spanish media reports, the Spanish star has decided against renewing his contract with Al-Gharafa, as he wants to return and have one last stint in La Liga.
Joselu’s return will not be to Real Madrid, but to another giant club, Valencia, who have already begun negotiations to reach an agreement with the 36-year-old on all personal terms.
Valencia is looking to bolster its attack with a striker who has the necessary La Liga experience, especially since Los Che have clearly suffered from a goal-scoring crisis this season, managing only 32 goals in 29 matches.
The fact that signing Joselu would be a free transfer aligns with Valencia’s current financial situation, so the Spanish giants’ officials are eager to finalize the deal quickly so they can see him at the Mestalla Stadium next season.
It’s worth noting that Joselu has played for several Spanish clubs throughout his career, starting with Celta Vigo, then Deportivo La Coruña, Alavés, Espanyol, and finally Real Madrid. He also had stints outside Spain in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt, Hoffenheim, and Hannover, as well as two spells in England with Stoke City and Newcastle.
