Bernardo Silva has informed Manchester City’s management that he will leave the English club at the end of his contract in early July.
According to British media reports, Silva officially contacted City’s management in recent days, informing them of his desire to pursue a new challenge in his career.
This decision comes after a period of uncertainty surrounding the Portuguese international’s future, as renewal negotiations with City stalled, and it became clear that all parties preferred a separation.
Undoubtedly, losing Silva is not only a significant blow on the pitch for City, but also off it, as he was described as Guardiola’s assistant and a highly valued player in the dressing room.
The 31-year-old’s next destination remains uncertain. It is known that his priority is a move to Barcelona, but the club’s financial situation is currently preventing the completion of the transfer.
Bernardo Silva is attracting interest from several European clubs, most notably Juventus, and there are also rumors linking him to MLS clubs. Saudi Arabia remains a possible destination for the former Monaco star.
It’s worth noting that Silva joined Manchester City in the summer of 2017 from Monaco for €50 million. Since then, he has made 449 appearances for the Citizens, scoring 76 goals and providing 77 assists. He has won the Premier League title six times and the Champions League once, in 2013.
