Bild reports that Manuel Neuer will be fit to play in Bayern Munich’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid.
The German international has been sidelined for almost a month with a muscle injury that has kept him out of the last four matches in all competitions.
Fortunately for Bayern, Neuer has recovered and returned to full training, meaning he should be available for the Real Madrid game unless something changes.
It is highly likely that Neuer will start in goal for Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match against Freiburg this Saturday as a way to prepare him for the Real Madrid clash.
Meanwhile, backup goalkeeper Jonas Orbig is expected to return to full training soon, effectively ending the goalkeeping injury crisis at the Allianz Arena.
Origi, who recently received his first call-up to the German national team but was sidelined with an injury, is expected to feature in the Cologne match, which will take place between the two Champions League fixtures against Real Madrid.
It’s worth noting that Neuer, 40, has made 29 appearances for Bayern Munich in all competitions this season and was considered a strong candidate to reverse his international retirement and play in the 2026 World Cup for Germany, before ultimately declining.
