Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has set a price for Harry Kane, citing Alexander Isak’s transfer to Liverpool last summer as a precedent.
Kane’s current contract with the Bavarian giants expires in the summer of 2027, but there is a near-agreement between the two parties on an extension, given the England international’s outstanding form at the Allianz Arena.
However, Hoeness addressed Kane’s actual market value, considering him statistically the best striker in the world right now.
Hoeness: Harry Kane is worth €250 million
In an interview with Kicker magazine, Hoeness said regarding Kane’s value, “The truth is that we took a risk when we spent €100 million to buy Kane in 2023, but he has played brilliantly for us in recent years.”
He added, “If we were to value him based on his form, I’d say Kane is worth €150 million, but when you consider that Liverpool paid €150 million for Isak, that should change the narrative.”
He concluded, “If Isak is worth €150 million, then Harry Kane is worth €250 million.”
Woltemade is unhappy at Newcastle and wants to return to Germany
Isak’s struggles with Liverpool this season.
Alexander Isak’s transfer from Newcastle to Liverpool was the talk of the town last summer. Despite the €150 million fee, which made the Swede the most expensive signing in Premier League history, he has failed to live up to expectations.
Due to inadequate preseason preparations with Newcastle, Isak needed a long period to reach the fitness required to play for Liverpool. He then suffered a serious leg injury in a match against Tottenham, which sidelined him for over three months.
Overall, the 26-year-old Isak has made just 16 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions so far, scoring two goals (in the Premier League) and one in the Carabao Cup, along with one assist.
Hoeness: Harry Kane is staying at Bayern Munich
When asked about Kane’s future at Bayern Munich, Hoeness replied, “He hasn’t activated the release clause in his contract, which means he’s definitely staying with us until the summer of 2027.”
He added, “From what I hear and feel, he and his family are very happy here, but you never know what will happen when Saudi Arabia comes along and puts a huge sum of money on the table.”
He concluded, “Kane feels at home now, and he can play at the highest level for another three or four years. He’s a perfect player and takes good care of his health and physique. We’re very happy with him.”
Because of Guardiola… Slott is a candidate to coach a European giant!
Kane with Bayern Munich
Harry Kane leads the Bundesliga scoring charts this season with 31 goals in 26 matches, along with 5 assists.
In the Champions League, the 32-year-old has scored 10 goals in 9 matches. He also scored in the German Super Cup against Stuttgart and netted 6 goals in the German Cup, where Bayern Munich reached the semi-finals and will face Bayer Leverkusen.
Kane has set numerous records, including becoming the fastest player to reach 100 goals for Bayern Munich, in addition to winning the Bundesliga top scorer title for the past two seasons.
Uli Hoeneß on Harry Kane’s worth in today’s market: “It was a bit of a risk [spending around €100m on him in 2023]. But he’s played incredibly well for us in recent years. If we consider the price-performance ratio, I’d say 150 million. But then you see that Alexander Isak of… pic.twitter.com/LTg2CX87k6
