Asensio has begun to lose his place as a starting center-back at Real Madrid, despite the team’s struggles in that position. He is well aware that staying next season will mean spending almost all of his time on the bench, given the expected summer reinforcements to bolster the defense.
According to recent reports, Everton is ready to rescue Asensio from the Real Madrid bench. The English club is reportedly considering a substantial offer of up to €30 million to convince Pérez’s management to sell.
Everton officials believe that signing the 23-year-old is an ideal option to strengthen the defense and also a long-term investment. If the Spaniard continues to develop and gain experience, he will be sought after by major European clubs for double that amount in less than two years.
For his part, Asensio welcomes the move away from Real Madrid if it guarantees him consistent playing time.
