Flick prefers not to meet with Laporta himself to negotiate the renewal, instead granting his agent, Pini Zahavi, full authority. The Polish agent has a close relationship with both the president and sporting director Deco, which should facilitate a swift and smooth negotiation process.

Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are scheduled to meet in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on April 6, 2026, at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Zahavi, Flick’s agent, will be in attendance at the stadium for the match and will then meet with Laporta and his entourage to discuss the details of Flick’s new contract.
Thus, the second or third week of April at the latest could see the announcement of Flick’s contract renewal for a maximum of one or two years.
The 60-year-old German coach prefers not to take on long-term contracts, which is why he previously refused to renew for more than an additional year, and he will likely maintain the same approach during these negotiations.
