Montero’s report stated that Valverde committed a violent foul on Baena, and therefore, it was expected that the Uruguayan player would receive a severe punishment starting with a two-match suspension.
However, according to the newspaper AS, the Competition Committee decided to suspend Valverde for only one match, deeming the minimum punishment the most logical option in this case.

As a result, Valverde will miss Real Madrid’s first match after the international break, which will see the Royal Club face Real Mallorca at the Son Moix Stadium in the 28th round of La Liga.
