The biggest obstacle to Barcelona signing Álvarez is Atlético Madrid’s high asking price, expected to exceed €100 million, forcing sporting director Deco to look for other options.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Victor Osimhen, the Galatasaray striker, is the leading alternative to replace Robert Lewandowski, whose departure is anticipated next summer.
There are considerable doubts surrounding Osimhen due to his personality. The Blaugrana management cannot overlook the manner of his departure from Napoli in 2014 and the conflicts he created with everyone at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
However, Barcelona highly values Osimhen’s recent impressive performances in Turkey, particularly his remarkable 56-goal tally in 70 appearances.
Barcelona’s management has also identified Benjamin Sissoko and Dusan Vlahovic as potential options, but Omar Marmoush remains the most realistic choice given his relatively low price tag and his dynamism, which aligns well with Hansi Flick’s tactical vision.
