Jurgen Klopp, head of global football at Red Bull, has confirmed that he has not received any contact from Real Madrid officials regarding taking over as manager of the Spanish giants next season.
Since Xabi Alonso’s dismissal last January, Klopp has emerged as one of the most sought-after candidates by Florentino Perez’s administration to succeed him at the end of the current season.
Klopp denied the rumors a few days later, calling them “pure nonsense,” and now he reiterates that all these rumors are false, demanding that the speculation cease.
The German coach told reporters, “The stories linking me to Real Madrid are always written by the same people; it’s illogical.”
He added, “Real Madrid haven’t contacted me even once, not even my agent.”
He continued, “I don’t know if it’s artificial intelligence or if there are people behind it, but what’s being written is just rubbish.”
“I don’t speak much to the media, but you really need to tone it down a bit,” he added. “You can ask Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, with whom my name has been linked; they’ll also tell you they haven’t contacted me.”
It’s worth noting that Spanish media outlets previously reported that Klopp had agreed to succeed Diego Simeone at Atlético Madrid, prompting the German coach’s agent to strongly refute the claim, calling it a “stupid lie.”
