Barcelona maintained their perfect record since returning to the Spotify Camp Nou, securing a hard-fought victory against Rayo Vallecano on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Catalonia.
The match began with great excitement, as Rayo Vallecano could have scored in the first minute, but goalkeeper Juan Garcia made a brilliant save to deny Carlos Martin.
Shortly after, Brazilian Rafinha had a similar opportunity, but he fired wide after being put through on goal by temporary defender Paty Cissé.
Fortunately for Barcelona, they didn’t pay for this missed chance. In the 24th minute, the Catalan side opened the scoring through Ronald Araujo, who headed in João Cancelo’s corner at the far post.

A sense of unease gripped the Barcelona camp just before halftime when goalkeeper Garcia went down clutching the same calf muscle he injured against Newcastle midweek, but thankfully he was able to continue playing.
Garcia’s persistence proved crucial, as he made several important saves in the second half to keep Rayo Vallecano at bay. He denied Alvaro Garcia from scoring inside the penalty area and also saved Unai Lopez’s close-range header from the resulting corner.
In the final minutes, Rayo Vallecano took control and pressed hard for an equalizer. Garcia was forced into another crucial intervention, stretching his defense to prevent substitute Jorge de Frutos from scoring what the visitors deserved, given their performance. Ultimately, Barcelona’s defense held firm, securing a clean sheet and three valuable points.
With this result, Barcelona extends its lead at the top of the table to seven points over Real Madrid, pending the outcome of the Madrid derby, which could reduce the gap to four points if Los Blancos win.
