In a major morale boost for the team, FC Barcelona announced that fan-favorite midfielder Gavi has received medical clearance to return to action after an absence of more than six months.
The La Masia graduate suffered a knee injury in late August, requiring arthroscopic surgery. During the operation, it was discovered that the injury was more serious than initially thought, meaning the player faced a longer recovery period.
Now, after spending just over six months away from the pitch and working diligently on his rehabilitation program, Gavi has been given the all-clear to return. The club statement read: “Gavi has received medical clearance and is available for tomorrow’s match against Sevilla.”
The Spanish international had already begun training with the rest of the squad and even traveled with the team for their recent matches against Athletic Bilbao and Newcastle United. With Barcelona preparing to face Sevilla tomorrow at the Camp Nou, Gavi has finally received medical clearance and could make his first appearance after his absence.
This return comes as a huge boost for Barcelona as they enter the final stretch of the season, especially given Frenkie de Jong’s current injury and the need to carefully manage Pedri’s physical condition following his own fitness issues.
