Marcus Rashford will return to Manchester United at the end of the current season, and Barcelona will most likely not exercise their option to buy him permanently from his loan.
This is according to Marca, which indicated that Barcelona is determined to negotiate the purchase price, and sporting director Deco has no intention of paying €30 million to secure the player’s services permanently.
Since the beginning of the year, Barcelona officials have held several meetings with their Manchester United counterparts to discuss lowering the purchase price or extending the loan for at least another year.
Manchester United’s management is adamant about a permanent transfer for €30 million and nothing less, preventing the deal from going through.
Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta hinted at reconsidering the deal, leaving the final decision to Deco, who will continue to pressure Manchester United to try and negotiate.
United’s management remains calm and believes there is no need to negotiate at all. Unlike last summer, finding a new club for Rashford will be extremely easy after his outstanding performances with Barcelona this season.
It’s worth noting that the 28-year-old Rashford wants to stay at Barcelona and remains his first choice. He has scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions this season.
