The friendly match between Egypt and Saudi Arabia will take place as scheduled on March 27th and will not be canceled due to the recent events in the Arabian Gulf region.
Qatar is supposed to host the Egypt-Saudi Arabia friendly, as well as the Guinness Cup match between Argentina and Spain, during the March international break.
At the beginning of the month, Qatar was forced to suspend sporting activities due to the Iranian missile attacks, before announcing the resumption of football matches a few days ago.
There were reports that Egypt might host Saudi Arabia for the friendly match, or that the match might be canceled if Qatar is unable to host the anticipated event.
According to the newspaper “Al-Riyadh,” the Egyptian Football Association has reached an agreement with its Saudi counterpart to hold the match in Jeddah.
There is a possibility that the match will take place in Qatar as originally scheduled, and the Qatari Ministry of Sports has requested a 48-hour extension before announcing its final decision.
Likewise, Saudi Arabia will play its friendly match against Serbia in Jeddah if it cannot be held in Qatar, and Hervé Renard will include 50 players during this break in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
