Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has identified Chelsea’s Pedro Neto as the Catalan club’s top target to bolster their wing position this summer.
Barcelona’s priorities for the summer transfer window are clear: Hansi Flick’s squad needs a new winger, a striker, and a central defender. With the season drawing to a close, Deco has begun evaluating the available options.
According to the newspaper “Sport,” Neto is highly regarded at Barcelona, especially given the Portuguese international’s versatility in playing on both flanks.
One of the factors facilitating the deal is that Neto’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has close ties with both Joan Laporta and Deco, which could pave the way for a positive outcome.
However, the biggest obstacle to such a transfer remains Chelsea’s high asking price. The London club signed Neto for €60 million two years ago and will only accept a profit from his sale.
As for the player himself, he is expected to welcome the move given the fierce competition for the winger position, especially since joining Barça would practically guarantee him a starting place specifically on the left wing.
It’s worth noting that, due to Barcelona’s financial situation, the most likely option remains a permanent transfer for Marcus Rashford, as the English star would cost the Blaugrana only €30 million.
