According to Sport, several members of Victor Font’s sporting management team, who is running for the Barcelona presidency, met with representatives from Manchester City to discuss the possibility of signing Erling Haaland.
Font is competing with Joan Laporta for the presidency of the Catalan club in elections scheduled for next week.
Font continues his efforts to attract Barça fans, most recently with a meeting between his team and Manchester City’s management while the English club was in Madrid to face Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Sport reports that Claes Blanchard and Javier Aguilar held secret meetings with City’s CEO Ferran Soriano and sporting director Hugo Viana.
The core of the discussion between the two parties was Erling Haaland’s potential move to Barcelona should the Norwegian agree to terminate his contract with Manchester City before its expiration in the summer of 2034.
This news comes amidst other reports indicating that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is also keen to sign Haaland, but only on the condition that Vinicius Junior leaves the Merengues next summer.
