Real Madrid star Fede Valverde embraced renowned fitness coach Antonio Pintus after scoring his decisive goal against Celta Vigo on Friday in La Liga.
Many wondered why the Uruguayan international celebrated in this way, and why he specifically went to Pintus and not, for example, to his coach Álvaro Arbeloa, to send a message to the media about the support of the Real Madrid players.
Many analyzed the incident, suggesting that Valverde owes his excellent physical condition this season to Pintus, and therefore went to return the favor after a goal that was crucial for Real Madrid.
However, the truth was revealed by Pintus, who wrote on his Instagram account: “Fede Valverde came to hug me after the goal because of my mother’s passing… Fede, you are a gentleman and a fantastic player.”
Pintus, who has been with Real Madrid for over 15 years, enjoys close relationships with the players. One of the most notable disagreements between the Merengues’ stars and former coach Xabi Alonso was the latter’s desire to dismiss the exceptional fitness coach.
It’s worth noting that Valverde’s goal kept Real Madrid’s hopes alive in the Spanish league title race, temporarily reducing the gap with Barcelona to just one point, pending the Catalan club’s match against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
