Salah scores as Liverpool overcome Wolverhampton in the FA Cup

Liverpool secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers to advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals, keeping their hopes of salvaging their season alive.

The Reds had suffered a heartbreaking last-minute defeat in the Premier League at Molineux on Tuesday, but they exacted revenge and secured their place in the last eight.

After a lackluster first half lacking creativity and energy, the visitors raced to a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the second half, with Andy Robertson opening the scoring and Mohamed Salah adding the second.

This marked Salah’s first consecutive match in all competitions this season since November, when he scored against Brentford and Aston Villa.

Curtis Jones added a third with a shot from the edge of the box 16 minutes from time, before Hee-chan Hwang pulled one back for Wolverhampton in stoppage time.

The reigning Premier League champions currently sit sixth in the table, with the FA Cup and Champions League remaining their last hopes of silverware this season.

Liverpool will travel to face Galatasaray in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie next Tuesday.
