Jesse Lingard Moves to Brazilian League

Brazilian club Corinthians have announced the signing of former England and Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard for the remainder of the season.

Lingard, 33, had been a free agent since leaving South Korean club FC Seoul at the end of last year.

Despite reports of interest from Major League Soccer clubs, Lingard opted to continue his career in São Paulo, signing a contract with Corinthians that runs until December. He will wear the number 77 shirt.

Lingard joined FC Seoul in February 2024 after a seven-month spell without a club, following his departure from Nottingham Forest the previous year.

Lingard becomes the second British-born player to represent the club, after Colin Richards, who later went on to represent Turkey internationally.

It is worth noting that Lingard came through the youth academy at Manchester United, where he made 232 appearances for the first team and won the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Europa League. He was also a key player for the England national team that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, representing his country in 32 international matches.
