Spanish press reports confirm that Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has received a lucrative offer to move to the Saudi league next season.
The Belgian goalkeeper’s contract with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2027, and the club is expected to begin renewal negotiations in the coming months.
However, there is significant concern within Florentino Pérez’s administration about the possibility of the negotiations failing, due to the substantial Saudi offer on Courtois’s table.
According to reports, the Saudi league attempted to lure Courtois away last summer with a massive salary offer, but he refused and insisted on staying with Real Madrid.
Now, clubs in the Saudi league are renewing their efforts to sign the 31-year-old, with the latest offer reaching €30 million annually after taxes and other benefits.
Courtois currently earns only €8 million at the Santiago Bernabéu, and it is not expected that Real Madrid’s management will be willing to double that amount in a new contract.
The Belgian goalkeeper has not yet made his decision, although he is inclined to stay with Real Madrid, but with the recent Saudi figures, it is possible that he will prefer to take this step that will bring him a huge fortune.
