Al Ahly announced in an official statement that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled in their favor in the case brought by Pyramids FC regarding their entitlement to the 2024-25 Egyptian Premier League title.
Al Ahly had withdrawn from their match against Zamalek in March 2024, leading the Egyptian Premier League to declare them the losers and deduct three points from their tally. The league later reversed its decision and rescinded the points deduction.
Based on these points, Al Ahly ultimately secured the league title. Pyramids FC then appealed to CAS, demanding the reinstatement of the three points and, consequently, their own victory.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, Al Ahly stated, “The Court of Arbitration for Sport has ruled in Al Ahly’s favor, confirming their full entitlement to the league title last season and rejecting the appeal filed by their rival (Pyramids FC).”
Egyptian media outlets indicate that Pyramids FC does not intend to appeal this ruling in the relevant Swiss courts and will consider their case closed.
Al Ahly’s appeal was filed over the past year. With this victory, Al Ahly secured their 45th league title, while Pyramids FC failed to join the exclusive club of seven clubs that have won the Egyptian Premier League.
Since Ismaily’s 2000 Egyptian Premier League title, only Al Ahly and Zamalek have won the championship.
Besides these two Cairo giants, Ghazl El Mahalla, Al Mokawloon Al Arab, Olympic Alexandria, Ismaily, and Tersana have also won the Egyptian Premier League title throughout history.
