Inter Miami is reportedly planning a visit to the White House to commemorate their 2025 MLS Cup victory, with a ceremony scheduled for March 5th.
White House visits are a long-standing American tradition, with MLS Cup winners typically attending a ceremony in the nation’s capital. Columbus Crew was the last MLS team to visit the White House in 2024.
According to The Athletic, Inter Miami will experience their moment in Washington, D.C., this March, having secured the title in December by defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps.
This isn’t the first time Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has been invited to the White House, though it would be his first time actually making the trip. Messi was previously invited to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom from then-President Joe Biden in January 2025, but he was unable to attend due to prior commitments.
Since then, Biden has left office, and Donald Trump has regained the presidency in the 2024 election. Trump has regularly engaged in football matters since his return to power, and now he has invited Messi and his team to the White House. Messi’s decision regarding his attendance remains unknown.
Trump has previously met with Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi’s long-time rival, hosting the Portuguese star alongside Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the Oval Office.
