Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi has been referred to trial on rape charges in a case dating back to February 2023.
The case began last August when a young woman alleged that Hakimi insisted on having sex with her despite her refusal. The Moroccan player was subsequently summoned to the prosecutor’s office, where he maintained his complete innocence.
The investigating judge had to decide whether to proceed with the trial or dismiss it. Ultimately, he decided to proceed, amid what Hakimi’s lawyer described as the player’s “complete calm,” confident of his innocence.
Hakimi told the media, “An accusation of rape is enough to warrant a trial, even if I deny it and all the evidence proves he’s lying. This is unfair, both to the innocent accused and to the real victims.”
He added, “I am calmly awaiting this trial, which will reveal the truth to everyone.”
Kylian Mbappé, the Real Madrid star and a close friend of Hakimi, had emphasized that these allegations could not be true, and that the Moroccan has always respected women and it is not in his nature to force a woman to have sex against her will.
