Messi will return to Barcelona as both a player and club president!

Víctor Font, a candidate for the Barcelona presidency, has revealed his plan to bring Lionel Messi back to Barça, not only as a football player but also in a prestigious honorary position at the Catalan club.

The Barcelona elections will be held in mid-March, and Font is considered the biggest threat to former president Joan Laporta, having ideas that are completely different from those of the club’s long-serving leader.

One of the main pillars of Font’s electoral project is bringing Messi back to Barcelona. In his latest statements, he said, “As everyone knows, the only obstacle to Messi’s return to Barcelona is Joan Laporta.”

Font indicates that he presented his proposal regarding Messi’s return to the player and his family, and they accepted it, meaning that once he reaches the elections, the return of the Argentine star to the Camp Nou will be just a matter of time.

Regarding the details of the proposal, Font first wants to present the General Assembly with a constitutional amendment that would allow Messi to be appointed honorary president of Barcelona, a lifetime position previously held only by the Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.

The second point concerns Messi’s return to playing for Barcelona. Font stated, “Messi should retire on the pitch. This depends, of course, on his wishes and on the situation at the end of 2026. We would say that the only and best way to say goodbye to him should be at Camp Nou.”

Finally, the proposal aims to generate significant financial gains by establishing a commercial partnership between Barcelona and Messi. According to data, Messi contributed to generating approximately 20% of the club’s revenue during his time at Camp Nou. Therefore, Font proposes a commercial alliance inspired by global agreements such as Nike’s partnership with Michael Jordan.

Furthermore, the possibility of a collaboration between Barcelona and Inter Miami is being explored to create “commercial and strategic synergies” that would strengthen the Barça brand in the American market.
