Spanish media reports indicate that Real Madrid intends to activate the buy-back clause in Nico Paz’s contract with Como, bringing him back to the Santiago Bernabéu next summer.
Paz has become one of the standout players in Serie A over the past two years, and last summer he rejected a staggering €80 million offer from Tottenham, preferring a return to Real Madrid.
According to recent reports, the Royal Club intends to reacquire Paz, but only to sell him, not to include him in Álvaro Arbeloa’s squad next season.
Real Madrid will buy the 20-year-old Paz for just €9 million, a move that is purely for marketing purposes, as Florentino Pérez’s administration doesn’t believe the player can make a difference in the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid’s primary objective is to receive a new offer for Paz next summer worth at least €75 million, thus generating a substantial profit that would allow the club to pursue its desired transfers.
It’s true that Paz wants to stay at Real Madrid, but he’s well aware that he can’t guarantee a starting place. Therefore, he wouldn’t be opposed to leaving if a suitable offer came his way, particularly from the English Premier League.
It’s worth noting that Real Madrid’s top priority for next summer is signing a new center-back and two midfielders, following a clear deficiency in those positions over the past two years.
