The newspaper Defensa Central reports that Real Madrid are monitoring Sedi Kinteh, a defender for Norwegian club Tromsø, with a view to signing him in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Kinteh is a 19-year-old Gambian defender whom Real Madrid see as a potential successor to David Alaba, given his similar physical attributes and left-footedness.
Alaba is expected to leave the Santiago Bernabéu next summer, and the club wants to replace him and Antonio Rüdiger with at least two center-backs. Kinteh appears to be an ideal candidate for this role.
Kinteh has demonstrated his ability to adapt to European football. He is versatile and can be relied upon at left-back when needed, in addition to his excellent ability to use both feet.
Al-Ahli Saudi attempted to sign Kinteh last winter, submitting an €8 million offer, but his Norwegian club rejected it, given that his contract with Tromsø runs until the summer of 2029.
Generally speaking, Kinteh transfer fee is not expected to be high, which aligns with Florentino Pérez’s policy of acquiring talented young players at reasonable prices, despite the relative risk involved due to the difference in quality between Norwegian and Spanish football.
