Liverpool continues its search for defensive reinforcements in the upcoming summer transfer window, and it seems the Reds have found their man in Barcelona’s Jules Koundé.
Reports indicate that the Reds’ management is prepared to offer up to €80 million to convince the Catalan club to part with the player.
Although Koundé recently renewed his contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2029, this substantial offer could tempt the Blaugrana to sell, especially given the player’s recent dip in form.
Sources suggest that Liverpool intends to utilize Koundé in his natural position as a center-back, not as a right-back, a point of strength that could sway the player’s decision.
The Koundé deal could be a double coup for Liverpool, as it would secure their central defense and allow them to utilize him at right-back when needed.
Catalan newspapers had indicated that Hansi Flick had begun to lose confidence in Koundé due to his numerous recent mistakes, and with the arrival of Joao Cancelo in January, the Frenchman found himself on the bench much more often than usual.
