Sky Sports reports that Manchester United is not considering bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford if he leaves Al-Nassr this summer.
The Portuguese star is currently embroiled in a major dispute with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) due to his objections to their transfer policy and their perceived preference for Al-Hilal over Al-Nassr in the recent winter transfer window.
The 40-year-old can leave Al-Nassr this summer for a release clause of just €50 million, and Ronaldo is seriously considering activating it amidst interest from Major League Soccer (MLS) and several European clubs.
In recent days, the possibility of Ronaldo returning to Manchester United for a third stint has been raised, suggesting he could spend his final days there before retiring, perhaps as a farewell dance at the club where his legendary football career began.
However, according to sources close to the English club, United’s current owners have no interest in re-signing Ronaldo, and the idea has not even been discussed at Old Trafford.
Manchester United has made it clear that it prefers to sign young players who can be relied upon for years to come, and the idea of bringing Ronaldo back contradicts this. Furthermore, the Portuguese star’s presence could cause problems due to his salary and his constant desire for a starting position.
It’s worth noting that Ronaldo moved to Manchester United in 2004, where his talent blossomed, culminating in winning the Ballon d’Or. He then joined Real Madrid in 2009, and after an unsuccessful stint with Juventus, he returned to the Red Devils in 2011, before leaving in late 2012 following a major disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag.
