Ronaldo’s Condition for Staying with Al-Nassr After the 2026 World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo has received multiple offers from European and American clubs, and the option of leaving Al-Nassr is very much on the table for the Portuguese star, unless the Saudi club meets a condition that is non-negotiable for the 40-year-old.

A major crisis erupted between Ronaldo and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) due to the Portuguese player’s conviction that Al-Nassr did not receive the same financial support that Al-Hilal received during the last winter transfer window.

Al-Nassr only signed Haider Abdulkarim for $300,000 and Abdullah Al-Hamdan for free, while Al-Hilal made three major signings, most notably Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad. This angered Ronaldo, leading him to skip the Riyadh match in protest against the PIF’s unequal treatment of the clubs it owns.

According to journalist Bruno Andrade of Record newspaper, Ronaldo has offers from America and Europe, but he doesn’t want to consider them now and is postponing his decision about leaving Al-Nassr until next summer. This is because he is fully focused on achieving his team’s goals this season and preparing optimally for the 2026 World Cup.

Initially, Ronaldo has set a necessary condition for agreeing to stay with Al-Nassr for another year: guarantees from the investment fund that would grant the Al-Nassr management independence in the upcoming transfer window, ensuring no interference in the work of Simão (the sporting director) or Semedo (the CEO).

Ronaldo returned to Al-Nassr training on Wednesday, although his participation in Friday’s Saudi League match against Al-Ittihad remains uncertain.
