Ruben Neves has renewed his contract with Al-Hilal for three more years, putting an end to the intense speculation surrounding his future.
Neves’ previous contract with Al-Hilal was set to expire at the end of the current season, amidst rumors of his desire to return to Europe.
In recent weeks, it was reported that the Portuguese international offered his services to several European clubs, most notably Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants declined to sign Neves, preferring to wait until next summer. Ultimately, Neves opted to continue his distinguished career with Al-Hilal.
On Wednesday, Al-Hilal released a statement on their official X platform announcing the contract renewal. Neves, in turn, apologized to the club’s fans for the delay in accepting the new offer.
Neves joined Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023 from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal worth €55 million to the Saudi club.
Since then, the 28-year-old has played 115 matches in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 30 assists, and has won several titles, most notably the Saudi League and the King’s Cup.
