Surprise: Erdoğan Resolved Kanté’s Transfer Crisis to Fenerbahçe!

Fenerbahçe has thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his instrumental role in resolving the crisis surrounding N’Golo Kanté’s transfer from Al-Ittihad to Fenerbahçe.

The Frenchman’s move to Fenerbahçe had stalled in the final hours of the winter transfer window due to an administrative error by Al-Ittihad related to a technical glitch in the international transfer management system.

This coincided with President Erdoğan’s visit to Saudi Arabia to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Fenerbahçe President Saad Eddin Saran sent a letter of thanks to Erdoğan: “I would like to express my gratitude to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for his significant support in ensuring the successful completion of the transfer, which will contribute to the development of football in Fenerbahçe and Turkey.”

According to Turkish newspapers, Erdogan made informal diplomatic efforts with Bin Salman to agree on the deal, which stipulates that Youssef En-Nesyri will move to Al-Ittihad after terminating his contract with Fenerbahce, with the Turkish club guaranteeing to receive the deal’s funds, estimated at 14 million euros.
