Barcelona has announced its intention to submit a bid to host the 2029 Champions League final at its new home, Camp Nou.
The 2026 Champions League final is scheduled to be held at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary, while the 2027 final will take place in Spain at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
UEFA has yet to announce the venue for the 2028 final, although the Allianz Arena, home of Bayern Munich, is a strong contender to host the match for the second time in less than four years.
According to Barcelona’s announcement, the Catalan club, in collaboration with the Catalan government, is striving to secure the honor of hosting the 2029 final for the first time in 30 years.
Barcelona and the relevant organizations submitted the initial documentation required to expedite the process and allow UEFA to evaluate the bid. The final, complete file is expected to be submitted in early June 2026.
Camp Nou has previously hosted the final twice: first in 1989 when AC Milan defeated Steaua Bucharest 4-0, and again in 1999 when Manchester United staged their legendary comeback against Bayern Munich.
Camp Nou is currently undergoing extensive renovations to bring the stadium up to modern standards. These renovations, which include increasing capacity to 100,000 and installing a new roof, are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
