Milan has reached an agreement with Crystal Palace to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta immediately during the current winter transfer window.
The French striker had requested a transfer from Crystal Palace after receiving several lucrative offers from Italian clubs.
Ultimately, after lengthy negotiations, the London club yielded to the player’s wishes. Mateta will join Milan for €30 million, plus an additional €6 million in add-ons.
Mateta will be the Rossoneri’s second striker signing from the Premier League this winter, following the acquisition of German international Nicolas Füllkrug from West Ham.
Mateta impressed during his time at Crystal Palace, making 186 appearances for the London club across all competitions, scoring 56 goals and providing 13 assists.
Massimiliano Allegri hopes the 28-year-old will contribute positively to Milan’s great revolution in Serie A, where the giant club is in second place with 47 points, 5 points behind its neighbor and leader Inter.
