Al-Hilal star on his way to Atlético Madrid

Atlético Madrid is close to finalizing another deal in the final hours of the winter transfer window, having reached an agreement with Al-Hilal star Marcos Leonardo for a move to the Wanda Metropolitano.

Los Rojiblancos have already secured the services of Ademola Lookman from Atalanta on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy for €40 million next summer.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Atlético Madrid has reached an agreement with Marcos Leonardo on personal terms, and a deal with Al-Hilal is now just a matter of time.

The Spanish club has made a compelling offer to Al-Hilal, proposing to sign the Brazilian on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy for €40 million.

Al-Hilal signed Leonardo in the summer of 2014 from Benfica for €40 million, and since then he has made 67 appearances, scoring 43 goals.

The 22-year-old Leonardo is enjoying his most successful season ever with Al-Hilal, having scored 14 goals and provided one assist in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Al-Hilal are open to selling their player as they search for a new striker with different qualities to lead Simone Inzaghi’s squad for the remainder of the season, increasing the likelihood of Leonardo’s transfer to Atlético Madrid being finalized in the coming hours.
