The Telegraph reports that Michael Carrick wants to bring Marcus Rashford back to Manchester United if he remains as manager next season.
Carrick took over from the sacked Ruben Amorim, and his current contract runs until the end of the season. However, victories against Manchester City and Arsenal have opened the door for him to remain at Old Trafford permanently.
According to the report, unlike Amorim, Carrick is a big believer in and admirer of Marcus Rashford and hopes to bring him back next season when his loan spell at Barcelona ends.
Tactically, Carrick believes Rashford would be very useful on the left wing, a position United have already begun looking to strengthen, thus saving the club from spending huge sums in the summer transfer window.
Marcus Rashford’s future currently rests with Barcelona, as his loan agreement includes an option to buy for €30 million. Should the Catalan club decide to exercise this option, Manchester United will be powerless to stop him.
The English newspaper also indicated that the England international prefers to stay at Barcelona and not return to United, a decision that will play a crucial role at the end of the season.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona wants Rashford to stay, based on the advice of manager Hansi Flick. However, the Catalan club hopes to pay less than €30 million, a figure Manchester United is unwilling to meet, further clouding the 28-year-old’s future.
