In the second half, Mohamed Salah provided an assist for Florian Wirtz’s powerful shot from inside the penalty area in the 67th minute. Ibrahima Konaté then sealed the win with a fourth goal in the dying moments, securing three crucial points for Arne Slott’s side.
Salah became the first player in Premier League history to both score and assist 10 goals against the same opponent (Newcastle).
The win against Newcastle was Liverpool’s first Premier League victory since the start of 2026.
The Reds began the new year with four draws against Leeds, Fulham, Arsenal, and Burnley, before suffering a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth last week.
This win lifts Liverpool to 39 points, temporarily placing them fifth, just one point behind fourth-placed Chelsea, pending Manchester United’s (38 points) match against Fulham on Sunday.
