Al Ahly announced in an official statement the signing of striker Yelsen Camões on loan from Norwegian club Tromsø until the end of the season.
The Angolan-born, Portuguese-nationalized player underwent medical examinations and has already signed his loan contract with the Red Devils, with an option to buy next summer.
Al Ahly had previously announced the departure of Slovenian striker Nijčík Gradičar to the Hungarian league, and it is rumored that Mohamed Sherif will also leave on loan to an Egyptian Premier League club before the end of the transfer window.
Al Ahly aims to fill the clear attacking gap that the Egyptian and Slovenian duo failed to address since Wissam Abou Ali’s departure to Columbus Crew last summer.
Al Ahly did not officially disclose the transfer fee, but Egyptian media outlets confirm that Camões cost the Red Devils €400,000 (the loan fee), while the purchase option is set at €1.5 million.
Al Ahly also successfully registered Camões in their domestic squad following the departure of Gradiscar, and he will be eligible to participate in the CAF Champions League matches starting with the upcoming game against JS Kabylie, having also been registered in their African squad.
It is worth noting that Camões shone with Tromsø last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 7 assists.
