The “Al-Riyadh Today” platform claimed that Al-Hilal is in negotiations to sign Karim Benzema during the current winter transfer window.
Benzema is refusing to play for Al-Ittihad after the humiliating offer he recently received to renew his contract, which is set to expire at the end of this season.
It has been reported that Benzema has begun searching for a new club, with a move to the French league being a possibility in order to fulfill his dream of convincing Didier Deschamps to include him in the French national team for the 2026 World Cup.
According to recent reports, Al-Hilal is showing particular interest in signing the 37-year-old to bolster their center-forward position, especially since Marcos Leonardo appears to be on his way out.
In the past few hours, Atlético Madrid submitted an official offer to sign Marcos Leonardo for €40 million, and the Al-Hilal management is inclined to accept it.
With Leonardo’s departure, Benzema is expected to succeed him in leading Simone Inzaghi’s attack, especially since Al-Hilal is prepared to offer the French striker the financial terms he desires.
However, everything remains open until the very last moment of the winter transfer window. Al-Ittihad’s management might intervene with a new, compelling offer for Benzema, or the Frenchman could end up at Al-Hilal or even return to France.
