Hamza Abdel Karim has arrived in Barcelona to finalize his transfer to the Catalan club.
Barça had shown clear interest in signing the Egyptian player since last December, but negotiations with his club, Al Ahly, proved extremely complicated recently.
Ultimately, Barcelona agreed to sign Abdel Karim on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy for €1.5 million next summer.
Al Ahly could earn €5 million from Abdel Karim, a figure Barcelona included in the contract as performance-related bonuses based on the player’s appearances, individual achievements, and other factors.
Abdel Karim arrived in Barcelona on Saturday evening, where he will undergo a medical examination at Camp Nou before the deal is officially announced.
The 18-year-old will become the first Egyptian player in history to wear the Barcelona jersey. He will begin his career with the reserve team, with promises of promotion to the first team should he prove his abilities.
It is worth noting that Al-Ahly renewed Abdul Karim’s contract until the summer of 2028 in anticipation of his experience with Barcelona failing, and at the same time kept for itself 15% as a percentage of the player’s future resale from Barca to any club.
