Barcelona announced in an official statement the renewal of Firmino López’s contract for two more years, keeping the Spanish star at the Camp Nou until the summer of 2031.
López’s previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2028, but after significant interest from Premier League clubs, and given the player’s outstanding performances with Barcelona this season, the Catalan club decided to improve his contract and extend it for as long as possible.
López welcomed this move, especially with the substantial pay raise he received. His priority has always been to remain with his boyhood club, Barcelona, regardless of any other offers.
López almost joined Chelsea last summer after a last-minute offer, but his strong desire to stay with Barcelona forced Joan Laporta’s administration to reject the offer.
Firmino has been a key player for Barcelona for the past two years, and his contract renewal reflects sporting director Deco’s commitment to retaining his star players, following the contract extensions of Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Rafinha over the past year.
The 22-year-old has made 26 appearances for Barça in all competitions this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.
