Benzema Declares Rebellion Against Al-Ittihad!

Karim Benzema’s name was absent from Al-Ittihad’s squad list for their Saudi League match against Al-Fateh, despite the player being physically fit and having participated in the last match against Al-Akhdoud last Monday.

Journalist Ben Jacob revealed that Benzema’s absence was not a technical decision by coach Sergio Conceição, as claimed by Saudi newspapers, but rather based on the French star’s own wishes.

Benzema decided not to travel with Al-Ittihad to Al-Ahsa, a move seen as a “rebellion” against the Saudi club.

In recent days, Al-Ittihad officials presented the 37-year-old with a new contract extension, as his current contract expires next June. However, he was not satisfied with the offer; on the contrary, he expressed considerable anger.

The Al-Ittihad offer did not meet Benzema’s financial expectations. The player currently earns up to €100 million, and it is likely that the club’s management offered to reduce his salary.

The Benzema contract renewal saga remains wide open, and Al-Ittihad will continue its efforts to retain its captain for at least another year. However, it seems clear that this will involve significant financial sacrifices from the Saudi club.

Benzema has expressed his happiness in Saudi Arabia, at a time when he was linked with a return to Europe or a move to Major League Soccer.

It’s worth noting that Benzema has participated in 21 matches across all competitions for Al-Ittihad this season, scoring 16 goals.
