ESPN has revealed that Lyon officials will work to convince their counterparts at Real Madrid to keep Endrick with the French club beyond the end of the current season.
Endrick joined Lyon at the beginning of the year on a six-month loan, after playing only 12 minutes during Xabi Alonso’s tenure at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The Brazilian international quickly made his mark at Lyon, scoring four goals and providing one assist in just three appearances for the French giants.
According to recent reports, coach Paulo Fonseca has expressed his happiness and admiration for Endrick’s performances in training and matches, and hopes he will stay and lead Lyon’s project next season.
The loan agreement between Lyon and Real Madrid does not give the French club the option to extend the loan or attempt to buy the 18-year-old, but Lyon officials are currently considering entering negotiations to extend Endrick’s loan for at least another year.
For his part, Endrick seems very happy at Lyon and has quickly established himself as the team’s star player. Therefore, he might welcome another year in France, especially since things at Real Madrid remain very unclear regarding plans for next season and who the coach will be.
At the moment, Endrick is solely focused on attracting the attention of Carlo Ancelotti in order to secure a place in the Brazilian squad and participate in the 2026 World Cup for the first time in his career.
