Real Madrid to Receive €10 Million from Lazio’s “Gift”!

Real Madrid will receive a surprising €10 million profit thanks to their former defender, Mario Gila, currently playing for Lazio.

According to Italian media reports, an agreement is imminent between AC Milan and Lazio for the transfer of Gila for €20 million.

The 25-year-old joined Lazio in the summer of 2022 from Real Madrid Castilla for just €6 million, after failing to secure a regular starting place with the first team and making only two appearances under Carlo Ancelotti.

Gila’s impressive performances recently attracted AC Milan’s interest, especially since his contract with Lazio expires in the summer of 2027.

The agreement between AC Milan and Lazio is practically finalized, and the biggest beneficiary will be Real Madrid, who have retained 50% of any future transfer fee for Gila, as is customary for Los Blancos when selling young players.

Real Madrid will earn €10 million next summer once the deal is officially completed. While not a huge sum, it will provide a financial boost to Florentino Pérez’s administration and could potentially contribute to signing a new defender, as hoped, next June.

Real Madrid typically employs two approaches with young players: a significant percentage of the transfer fee, as in the case of Gilardino, and a buy-back clause. However, the promising Spanish player’s performances weren’t enough to trigger the latter clause, unlike what will happen with Nico Paz, for example, next season.
