Barcelona were dealt a blow when Pedri suffered an injury during the Slavia Prague match. The Catalan club officially announced the expected duration of the Spanish star’s absence, a significant setback for coach Hansi Flick.
Pedri’s injury was diagnosed as a hamstring strain, which will sideline him for at least a month.
This means that Barça will be without their 23-year-old star for their upcoming La Liga match against Real Oviedo and their Champions League fixture against Copenhagen next week.
Pedri’s absence will also extend to the Copa del Rey matches against Albacete, La Liga fixtures against Mallorca, Girona, and Levante, as well as the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 playoff tie should Barcelona fail to qualify directly for the knockout stage by finishing in the top eight of the league.
If the injury does not worsen, Pedri is expected to return to action for Hansi Flick’s squad against Villarreal in early March.
This is Pedri’s second injury this season, having previously suffered a muscle injury between October and November. He has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing eight assists.
