The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced its best XI for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which was awarded to Senegal after their 1-0 victory over Morocco in the final.
The tournament saw several Arab players shine, but aside from the Moroccan stars, no other Arab players from Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, or Sudan made the cut.
As expected, Sadio Mane, the tournament’s best player, was included in the lineup, alongside Brahim Diaz, the tournament’s top scorer and the man behind the tragic final.
Yassine Bounou was unsurprisingly named in goal after his outstanding performances throughout the tournament, culminating in two miraculous saves in the final, which unfortunately weren’t enough to secure the title for Morocco, a trophy they hadn’t won in 50 years.
The lineup was generally a mix of Moroccan and Senegalese players, with Nigeria, who finished third, represented by three players: Victor Osimhen (the tournament’s second-highest scorer), Ademola Lookman, and center-back Calvin.
The CAF Best XI for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is as follows:
Goalkeeper: Yassine Bounou
Defense: Noussair Mazraoui, Moussa Niakhaté, Calvin, Achraf Hakimi
Midfield: Idrissa Gueye, Pape Gueye, Ademola Lookman
Attack: Brahim Diaz, Victor Osimhen, Sadio Mané
