Marca has revealed that Xabi Alonso does not intend to return to coaching this season and prefers to take a short break to fully recover before choosing his new club.
Alonso was dismissed from his position as Real Madrid coach after just six months in charge, following a 3-2 defeat to Barcelona in the 2016 Spanish Super Cup final at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
Alonso was immediately linked with several clubs, with the German newspaper Bild reporting that Eintracht Frankfurt had made an official offer to bring the Basque coach back to the Bundesliga.
According to the latest report, Alonso prefers to rest for now, but he is also prepared to make an exception for Liverpool and coach them immediately if necessary.
