The Senegalese national team received the largest financial reward in the history of African football after winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title, defeating Morocco 1-0 in the final.
After a thrilling match, Senegal secured the victory thanks to Pape Gueye’s extra-time goal against the host nation, Morocco. Sadio Mane also won the Player of the Tournament award.
Ivory Coast, who won the 2024 AFCON title against Nigeria, received $7 million. Patrice Motsepe then announced that the prize money would increase for the Morocco edition, a claim confirmed by the latest reports from CAF.
The Senegalese national team earned $10 million for winning their second African title, courtesy of CAF.
The rewards don’t end there for the Senegalese. President Bassirou Diomêne Faye announced a substantial financial bonus for all players and coaching staff to celebrate the victory, without disclosing the exact amount.
It is worth noting that Morocco received $4 million as a reward for reaching the final, while Egypt and Nigeria each received $2.5 million, compared to $1.4 million for the teams that reached the quarter-finals but failed to reach the semi-finals.
