Egypt failed to reach the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Senegal in the semi-final at the Grand Stade de Tanger.
In the 77th minute, Sadio Mane converted Senegal’s dominance into the only goal of the match with a powerful shot that Mohamed El Shenawy could only watch as it nestled into the net.
Egypt’s attacking performance was extremely lackluster, to the point that their first shot on target against Edouard Mendy didn’t come until the 94th minute, courtesy of Omar Marmoush.
With this victory, Senegal continues its dominance over Egypt, having denied the Pharaohs the title in the 2021 edition by winning the final on penalties, and also securing Egypt’s place in the 2022 World Cup via penalties.
