Bernardo Silva is close to leaving Manchester City when his contract expires next summer, and it seems an Italian battle is brewing for the 31-year-old’s services.
Over the past few years, Silva has consistently been linked with a move to Barcelona, but the club’s financial difficulties and precarious economic situation at Camp Nou have been the biggest obstacles to completing the deal.
The Portuguese international will be available on a free transfer next summer, which has also raised the possibility of Barcelona entering the race and attempting to sign him.
According to the Daily Mail, Juventus is now actively pursuing Silva, and some discussions have begun with his agent to gauge the player’s interest in a move to Serie A.
Juventus is not the only club interested in Silva. Como, led by Cesc Fabregas, is also keen to acquire him, although the task will be more difficult given that the promising club does not participate in European competitions and is not on the same level as Juventus, one of the continent’s major clubs.
Bernardo Silva has yet to decide which club he will represent next season and is in no hurry, preferring to wait and hope that Manchester City’s management will change their minds and offer him a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.
It’s worth noting that Silva joined Manchester City in the summer of 2017 from Monaco, and since then he has become one of the cornerstones of Pep Guardiola’s squad, leading his team to numerous achievements, most notably five Premier League titles and the club’s first-ever Champions League title.
