Al-Nassr legend Hussein Abdulghani launched a scathing attack on Cristiano Ronaldo following the team’s second consecutive defeat this season in the Saudi Pro League, this time against Al-Qadisiyah on Thursday.
Ronaldo scored a goal in the 2-1 loss, which widened the gap with league leaders Al-Hilal to four points after 13 rounds of the competition.
After the match, Ronaldo posted a message on his official X account saying, “The battle isn’t over yet. The team will continue working in the upcoming matches.”
Abdulghani, who played for Al-Nassr from 2009 to 2017, responded, “We’ve been hearing this tweet for two years. We want action on the pitch, not on X. This message is for your fans, but we’re talking about a team.”
He added, “This fight should be on the pitch, not on social media.”
He continued, “As the team’s captain, you must work harder. Even if you’re a big star and have achieved a lot, that’s all in the past. You’re an important player and the team’s leader, and you must be influential on the pitch.”
He concluded, “Look at Ronaldo’s performance in recent matches. All players must be held accountable, regardless of who they are or their value. We won’t dwell on the past; his history and achievements are personal matters. What matters is how much he contributes to the team on the field.”
It’s worth noting that Ronaldo is Al-Nassr’s top scorer this season across all competitions, having scored 15 goals and provided 3 assists. He also leads the Saudi Pro League scoring charts with 14 goals in 13 matches.
