A battle is brewing among Premier League clubs to sign Manchester City star Omar Marmoush during the current winter transfer window.
The Egyptian star is planning a loan move until the end of the season after City secured the signing of Antoine Simeone, significantly reducing Marmoush’s chances of regular playing time.
Tottenham were the first club to express interest in signing Marmoush, and according to British media reports on Saturday, Aston Villa have become the latest club to join the race for the “Egyptian Prince’s” services.
Aston Villa have taken initial steps to explore the possibility of signing Marmoush, especially as the club’s management sees him as an ideal option to bolster Unai Emery’s squad for the remainder of the season.
Although Marmoush would welcome a move away from City, Pep Guardiola remains adamant about keeping the 26-year-old and is unwilling to let him go to any club, regardless of the offer. The Spanish tactician believes the season is very long and the team needs all the players currently on the roster.
Guardiola is inclined to let only Oscar Pope leave City in January, while he wants to keep Marmoush and Savinho.
Marmoush is currently with the Egyptian national team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where they are preparing to face Benin on Monday in the round of 16. After his participation with the Pharaohs concludes, he will hold a crucial meeting with City officials to discuss his future.
Marmoush joined Manchester City in January 2025 from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth around £59 million, signing a contract that runs until the summer of 2029.
